NY markets

I'm in NY for a couple of days and this afternoon had a chance to stroll around Union Square, where they have a freshmarket every day. I can't tell you what a wonderful experience that is.

Right in the center of a major world capital, having the feeling of being in a small mediterrean village square where the local farmere show off their produce and crafts. just wonderful. I saw a larger variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses, jellies, etc than I usually encounter in the farmer-rich Carolina countryside. Not what you'd expect at first blush. Love it though. Wanted to try so much. Ever had sunflower sprouts, organic goats cheese or seasonal mini-pumpkins ? Just go to Union Square to give it a try.
